The official website for Gintama The Final, the new anime film, released a new visual for the film today. The colourful illustration features the entire cast from the series and is penned by the creator Hideaki Sorachi, with its tag line "Bye-Bye, Gin-san."
The website for the film also confirmed that the film will be adapting the finale of the original manga, combined with new story element that will live up to the expectations of the fans. Few details had been disclosed about Gintama: The Final movie at this point as the team behind it has been quiet about it. The team behind the movie has been working behind-the-scenes on its final feature film.
The film will release in Japan on January 8, 2021, and is been described as "the finale, for real this time." An anime special will be released in early 2021 on dTV online service and it will tie into the film.
Gintama is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi. It is set in a fictional Edo period which has been conquered by aliens named Amanto. Gintoki Sakata, Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura are the main characters who work odd-jobs in order to pay the monthly rent.
