Josee, The Tiger and The Fish Anime Film Chosen to Close Busan International Film Festival

The anime film, "Josee, the Tiger and the Fish" based on Seiko Tanabe's novel, has been selected as the closing film for the 25th Busan International Film festival. The festival will take place on October 21st to 30th, 2020.

The anime film was originally scheduled to be released in the summer of 2020. However, due to the spread of the new coronavirus, the release date has been postponed to December 25, 2020. So far, it has not been shown to the audience, and no other screenings have been announced as of yet. Busan International Film Festival is likely to be the place for the world premiere. The Film Festival is Korea's largest international film festival, which started in 1996 and is officially recognized by the FIAPF.

Kotaro Tamura (Noragami, Noragami Aragoto) is directing the anime. Nao Emoto (O Maidens in Your Savage Season) drew the original characters designs, and Haruko Iizuka (Tamayura, Children of the Whales, Endro~!) is designing those characters for animation, as well as serving as chief animation director. Sayaka Kuwamura (Strobe Edge) is writing the script. Loundraw (Tsuki ga Kirei, I want to eat your pancreas character design) is credited for concept design. Evan Call (Violet Evergarden, Schwarzes Marken) is composing the music. Shochiku and Kadokawa will distribute the film. Eve is performing the film's theme song "Ao no Waltz" (Blue Waltz). The popular studio Bones is producing the film.

'Josee, the Tiger and the Fish' is famous for the live-action movie directed by Isshin Inudo, starring Satoshi Tsumabuki and Chizuru Ikewaki in 2003.

The Busan International Film Festival was originally scheduled from October 1st to October 10th. However, due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, the opening was delayed to October 21st. Hong Kong's "Septet: The Story Of Hong Kong," co-written by seven big-name directors including Sammo Hung, Ann Hui, and Patrick Tam, has been decided as the opening work. The closing will be on October 30th, and "Jose, Tiger and Fish" will also be screened on that day.
