October 10th marks the birth anniversary of Gintoki Sakata, and on the birthday of Gintoki, the official website of Gintama anime franchise has given the fans of Gintoki a heartwarming surprise by streaming a 30-second trailer for the upcoming feature film, Gintama THE FINAL.
This newly released trailer announces the previews and also the theme song ‘Wadachi’ by the band SPYAIR. By Wadachi, the band would have performed or provided music for the fifth time in total for the Gintama anime franchise. Gintama has featured three theme songs by SPYAIR for the earlier anime seasons and another theme song for a previous movie titled, Gekijoban Gintama Kanketsu-hen: Yorazuya yo Eien Nare. Besides SPYAIR, the Japanese rock band DOES is also confirmed to have an insert song featured in the new film.
The official YouTube channel of the Gintama, opening this Saturday will be streaming the first episode of the television anime and eight other supplementary episodes. The channel will also stream the first movie of the franchise, the 2010’s Gintama: The movie at 7:00 p.m. In addition to this, the channel will be streaming the top 25 episodes, shortlisted by the number of votes in the ongoing poll, from October 24.
As the official third film of the franchise, following its predecessors, Gintama The Movie in 2010 and Gintama The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorazuya, Gintama: THE FINAL is scheduled to release on January 8th, 2021. This movie is based on the final chapter of the original manga and will also have some additional inputs of the new story elements.
The original anime from Sorachi began its run in 2003 and lasted long till the very mid of 2019 with having published about 55 million copies worldwide in circulation. Viz Media also published the manga’s first 233 volumes in English, while, Sentai Fireworks released first 49 episodes of anime on DVD in 2010 and 2011, but not in English dub version.
