The ultimate champion among the cosplayer community in India was decided at the Maruti Suzuki Indian Championship Of Cosplay 2018 event which was held at DLF Place, Saket, New Delhi, today. The contenders for the championship were the winners of Cosplay competitions hosted at Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad Comic Con in the year 2017.
The finalists for the ICC 2018 were Ankit Singh from Pune, Ramshankar Unnikrishnan from Pune, Shivanesan V Kumar from Hyderabad, Jeet Molankar from Mumbai, Pracheta Banerjee from Mumbai, Akshay Churi from Bengaluru, Shabaz Ahmed from Bengaluru, Sameer Bundela from Delhi, Sana Khan from Delhi and Rohit Kailashiya from Delhi. Jeet Molankar who cosplayed as Reinhardt from Overwatch emerged victorious and earned his title of Indian Championship Of Cosplay for the year 2018.
Finalists were judged on a point scale by the jury on the following criteria:
Craftsmanship - how the entrant made their costume, use of materials and creativity
Likeness/Details - how close the contestant resembles the character they are cosplaying/detail on costume
Presentation - how the entrant portrayed themselves as the character they are cosplaying
While Jeet won the crown of ICC, another contender Sameer Bundela who cosplayed as Malavestros from the Court Of The Dead won the heart of the fans along with the Fan Favourite Award at the event. Fan Favourite Award was decided through an online poll, which was closed from 21st of February 2018.
